In the United States:

- Food banks in the US provide food to 25 million people, including 9 million children.
- In 2005, 1 in every 5 children lived in poverty. Children living in poverty are usually hungry.
In New Jersey:
- Over one million children live in poverty.
- One out of every three people who receive food through the FoodBank is a child..
In Monmouth and Ocean Counties:
- Poverty among children is increasing. In 2000, at the time of the last Census, almost 10% of all children lived in poverty in Monmouth County, and 13% of all children lived in poverty in Ocean County.
- The FoodBank provides food for 19,000 children each year.
